Privacy Policy for Ad Inspector

 Last Updated: February 2026

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing to use the "Ad Inspector - Website Monetization Detector" Chrome Extension ("the Extension"). We take your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines what information the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.

To put it simply: We do not collect, process, store, or share any of your personal data.

2. Information Collection and Use

The Extension operates entirely locally on your device within your browser. Its sole purpose is to analyze the publicly accessible Document Object Model (DOM) of the web pages you visit to identify the presence of third-party advertising network scripts and associated tags.

* NO Personal Data: The Extension does not require any form of registration, login, or personal information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to function.

* NO Browsing History Collection: The Extension does not track, record, log, or transmit the websites you visit or your browsing history to any remote server.

* NO Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics software to track your usage of the Extension.

3. How the Extension Works

When you activate the Extension on a webpage (or when it passively checks the page as permitted by Chrome Web Store policies), it executes local scripts to scan the page's HTML elements (such as <script>, <iframe>, and <link> tags) for known advertising network signatures.

This scanning process happens entirely locally on your computer. The results (the list of detected ad networks) are displayed directly in the Extension's popup interface. This data is briefly held in the Extension's local memory to display the results and badge count, but it is never stored permanently or sent externally to the developer or any third parties.

4. Permissions Justification

To function as described, the Extension requires specific permissions from your browser:

* 'activeTab' and 'scripting': Required to temporarily access the content of the tab you are actively viewing to perform the ad detection scan.

* '<all_urls>': Required so the Extension can function on any website you navigate to, as ad networks can be present on any domain.

These permissions are strictly used for the core functionality described in Section 3 and are never used to monitor or monetize your web activity.

5. Data Security

Because no personal data or usage data is collected, stored, or transmitted by the Extension, there is no risk of your data being exposed, breached, or misused by us.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The latest version will always be available in the Chrome Web Store listing or provided locally.

7. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or the Extension's data handling practices, please contact the developer via the support link provided in the Chrome Web Store.
